lyrics
Out of a skyful of hardware
comes an intergenerational strike
from Christ himself, don’t you know?
this is war, don’t you know?
this is war, don’t you know?
but don’t you go confusing the frontiers, the field, the theatre over there
don’t confuse the operational front as demarcations of a game
whose perimeters can't be broken
and whose margins can't be broadened to annex the precincts and the subways
of our regenerated towns
but Jesus Christ sends his regards of course
he relays his thoughts and prayers at this time
to redeem the vendors
and deliver the shareholders
from uncertainty and risk
from market volatilities
from godless externalities
of course Jesus sends his regards
and so we speak as if from the mouth of the Saviour himself
a hyper-language of un-human particulars
and regard with pleasure
the semantic precision of all our words for extinction
but our hands are tied, don’t you know?
but our hands are forced, don’t you know?
this is war this is war
this is war this is war
and the mouths of the Saviour scream seven hundred arcs overhead.

The singular approach James Joys has long applied to deconstructed electronica, detailed sound design and carefully constructed language, folded into a world of choral texture and literally given new breath. Stunning, troubling and cathartic. Pete Devlin's voice is, as ever, a marvel. Cannot recommend enough. John Pope
Mary Halvorson is a genius composer and guitarist who has developed her own musical language, and with Code Girl she has incorporated poetry into that language. Incredible compositions and lyricism (each track is a different kind of poem). Halvorson's playing is as great as usual, and all the other members of the band sound great. Robert Wyatt's singing in particular works extremely well in the tracks he's featured. Highly, highly recommend. rat
A dreamy, sonically diverse coming-of-age story from NYC artist mỹ tâm, who infuses art pop with elements of jazz and chiptune.
